The Story Behind Petal & Pen
After graduating with a degree in Technical Writing from Penn State: Behrend, I was eager to step into the professional world and put my skills to good use. However, I encountered an uphill climb—a frustrating paradox of needing experience to land a job but being deemed "too experienced" for internships.
Determined to keep this roadblock from defining my future, I built an online portfolio showcasing the papers and projects I had completed in college. But as I navigated the job market, I quickly realized that academic achievements alone weren't enough to secure the opportunities I sought. At one point, I even dreamed of creating my line of writing-inspired products, "Rose Products," but life's realities pulled me in another direction.
When I eventually entered the corporate world, I found myself disillusioned. I did not expect to make money for someone else while my time and talents felt underutilized.
